Moombahton

If you have been at all paying attention to e.d.m the past couple years you will know that moombahton has been on the rise since it was first created back in 2009. The genre is essentially Dutch House slowed to a laidback b.p.m of 108 to as much as 115, throw in some latin reggaeton vibes and BAM you have moombahton. The genre's alleged creation is very arguable since David Nada, producer and dj from Washington D.C, was the one who allegedly "created" the genre while playing at a local event. He slowed the Afrojack remix of the track "Moombah" by Silvio Ecomo and DJ Chuckie from 128bpm to 108bpm and from then on moombahton has been hitting clubs locally. But many say the elements of moombahton were alive and bumping sound systems way before David Nada in tracks by world renowned Dj and producer Diplo, Major Lazer and reggaeton groups such as luny tunes. Whatever the origin, Moombahton seems to be an unstoppable force that is on the rise and catching up with mainstream e.d.m genres, along with moombahton is its' twisted bastard little brother "moombahcore" which is essentially dubstep and moombahton as a genre mix. I personally love the combination and believe it to be very innovating, big dubstep artists such as Skrillex and Downlink have made a few moombahcore tracks supporting the genre. Furthermore, I hope the best for moombahton and all the sub genres it carries with it, lets keep this genre alive people support it and help it grow!
